Gold IRA Update · September 10, 2026
The Treasury Department and IRS issued new guidance on August 12 designed to make retirement-account rollovers simpler and more consistent. Notice 2026-49 provides optional sample forms and proposed procedures for moving money between employer retirement plans and IRAs. It does not apply to transfers from one IRA directly into another IRA.
This could make a practical difference for someone funding a precious-metals IRA with money from a 401(k) or another employer plan. Standard forms may reduce confusion, repeated paperwork and preventable errors. However, the forms are optional. The employer plan and receiving IRA custodian still control their own requirements, and the guidance does not change which metals qualify or how IRA-owned metals must be stored.
Pryce House can discuss product choices and the process at the outset, and later provide current availability and itemized pricing for eligible physical precious metals. The account owner chooses and authorizes the investment; the custodian reviews and administers the transaction under its procedures.
Pryce House is a precious-metals dealer, not an IRA custodian, investment adviser, tax adviser or law firm. This article is provided for general information only.
