ARTICLE: Lady's ring, 18kt white gold, centering one natural, earth mined blue sapphire within a channel and flush set diamond mounting.

MOUNTING: Fabricated in 18kt white gold to a high polish finish. Center stone set within a swept diamond surround, the shoulders channel set with tapered baguette diamonds and flush set with round brilliant cut diamonds. Measures 18 mm across the top and tapers to 4.3 mm at the rear of the shank. Gross weight 12.45 grams. Present finger size 4 1/2 US.

REPORT: Accompanied by an SGL Gemstone Identification and Origin Report, report number 210913H-SB, dated September 14, 2021, signed by Bear Williams, FGA and Cara Williams, FGA. The report identifies the stone as corundum, variety sapphire, and notes indications of thermal enhancement. Geographic origin is not addressed on this report.

TREATMENT DISCLOSURE: This sapphire has been heat treated. Heating of corundum is a common, permanent, and stable practice within the gem trade, applies to the large majority of blue sapphire in the market at every price level, requires no special care, and is disclosed here in accordance with standard industry disclosure.

ACCENT STONES: Tapered baguette and round brilliant cut natural, earth mined diamonds, graded approximately G in color and VS in clarity.

CONDITION: Examined under magnification. All stones present and secure at the time of examination. Channel work tight and even with no lifted edges. Mounting sound with no evidence of prior repair.

REMARKS: Deep blue is the description a gemologist reaches for when a sapphire holds its color rather than washing out, and at 3.70 carats in a single oval this stone carries enough size for that color to register across a room. The mounting is built to match it. Tapered baguettes channel set through the shoulders give the piece a swept, directional line rather than the static symmetry of a plain halo, and the flush set rounds worked in among them fill light where the baguettes leave gaps. Twelve and a half grams of 18kt is substantial construction for a ring of this footprint.

NOTE ON SIZING: The ring is presently a size 4 1/2, which is small, and most buyers will need it enlarged rather than reduced. Channel set baguettes running through the shoulders limit how far a ring of this construction can be safely opened, since the work must remain undisturbed. A jeweler can advise on the achievable range once the ring is in hand, and inquiries about sizing before purchase are welcome.

Diamond weights and grades stated are approximate and determined while the stones are mounted. Center stone identification, weight, measurements, color description, and treatment are as stated in the accompanying report, which is furnished with the piece and governs in the event of any discrepancy.
