ARTICLE: Lady's ring, 14kt white gold, centering one cushion cut tanzanite within a diamond halo. Cocktail or statement scale.

MOUNTING: Fabricated in 14kt white gold to a high polish finish. Halo style head with diamond work continuing down the shoulders. The shank is squared at the base so the ring will not rotate on the finger. Measures 18 mm across the top by 17 mm in width. Gross weight 8.66 grams. Suitable for sizing.

CENTER STONE: One cushion cut tanzanite weighing 10.95 carats. Color is a deeply saturated bluish purple.

ACCENT STONES: Round brilliant cut diamonds, total weight approximately 2.00 carats, graded approximately G in color and SI1 in clarity.

CONDITION: Examined under magnification. All stones present and secure at the time of examination. Mounting sound with no evidence of prior repair.

REMARKS: A tanzanite of nearly eleven carats with color held at this depth is a scarce commodity, and the single known commercial source in the Merelani Hills of Tanzania is a finite deposit. The squared shank is a practical touch on a head of this size and reflects considered construction rather than stock assembly.

NOTE ON TREATMENT AND CARE: Tanzanite is routinely heat treated to develop its blue to violet color. The treatment is standard throughout the trade, is permanent, and requires no special maintenance. Tanzanite is a softer stone than sapphire or diamond and possesses distinct cleavage. It should not be cleaned ultrasonically or by steam, and should be protected from sharp knocks and abrupt temperature change.

Weights and grades stated are approximate and determined while the stones are mounted, in accordance with standard practice for jewelry examined in the setting.
